Crate Rental Agreement & Release of Liability

Version 2026-09-01 · Effective September 1, 2026

The core rental terms: what you are renting, how long you keep it, and the limits of our responsibility for the belongings you pack.

1. What you are renting

Crate Minds rents reusable plastic moving crates, dollies, and related equipment ("Equipment") to you for the rental period shown on your reservation. Title to the Equipment always remains with Crate Minds. You are renting it, not buying it.

Your reservation confirms the package, crate count, rental length, delivery address, and pickup address. Any change you make later through your account updates these terms for the remainder of the rental.

2. Rental period, delivery, and pickup

The rental period begins on the delivery date and ends on the scheduled pickup date. Equipment must be emptied, stacked, and accessible at the pickup address on the pickup date.

If Equipment is not available for pickup on the scheduled date, the rental continues at the standard weekly rate for your package until we are able to collect it, prorated in whole weeks.

Someone 18 or older must be present at delivery and pickup, or you must arrange access in advance.

3. How the Equipment may be used

Use the Equipment only for household or office moving and storage of ordinary personal property. Do not exceed a load of 50 lbs per crate, stand on crates, stack them more than five high, or use them as ladders, work platforms, or seating.

Do not pack hazardous, flammable, corrosive, explosive, perishable, illegal, or living contents. Do not modify, paint, drill, label with adhesives that leave residue, or sublet the Equipment.

The Equipment may not leave the state of delivery without our written approval.

4. You pack, you load, you own the contents

Crate Minds rents empty Equipment. Unless you separately purchase a service where our staff physically pack or move your items, you are solely responsible for what you place inside the crates, how you pack it, how it is loaded, and how it is transported.

Crate Minds does not take custody of your belongings and is not a mover, carrier, warehouse, or bailee of your property.

5. Release of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, you release, waive, and discharge Crate Minds, its owners, employees, and contractors from any and all claims for loss of, damage to, or theft of property placed in or transported using the Equipment, and from any injury or property damage arising out of your use, handling, loading, stacking, lifting, or moving of the Equipment.

This release applies to ordinary negligence. It does not apply to gross negligence, willful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be waived under applicable law.

6. Assumption of risk

Moving involves lifting, carrying, stairs, and heavy loads. You accept the risks that come with that activity for yourself and anyone you allow to use the Equipment, and you agree to use safe lifting practices and appropriate help.

7. Limitation of liability

If Crate Minds is ever found liable to you for any reason connected with this rental, total liability is limited to the amount you actually paid for the rental in question. Crate Minds is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, sentimental value, delays, or missed move dates.

8. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify Crate Minds against claims brought by third parties arising from your use of the Equipment, including injury or property damage at the pickup or delivery location.

9. Governing terms

This agreement, together with the Damage & Loss Policy, the Cancellation & Refund Policy, and the Terms of Service & Privacy Policy, is the entire agreement between us about the Equipment.
